Lilo Foster, E-RYT 500 is Ariele’s grandmother. She taught yoga until age 87, and was one of Ariele’s first teachers. Here’s her bio: Lilo trained as a dancer, and was first introduced via dance to yoga in her native Germany in the 1930s. Lilo was one of very few Jewish people who survived World War II in Berlin, and later became re-acquainted with the healing power of yoga after moving to the U.S. She began teaching yoga in the 1970s to an ever-increasing group of dedicated students in and around beautiful Rappahannock County, Virginia (home to Old Rag Mountain, the Inn at Little Washington, and the origin of the Skyline Drive). By the 1990s, after formal retirement from her career in education, Lilo’s yoga classes blossomed in popularity.
Lilo taught yoga until age 87 with a seemingly unlimited fount of energy, humor and wisdom. Lilo is a true gift to be near, but is no longer teaching at this time. Her former classes are being covered by Susan in Little Washington, VA and Marilyn in Front Royal, VA. (See details here.)
Lilo studied with her main teacher Sylvie for many years, as well as Lilias Folan and other long-standing yoga luminaries and was a Registered Yoga Teacher at the 500-hour E (experienced) Yoga Alliance level. She taught classes across Rappahannock County and in Front Royal, VA and is Ariele’s beloved grandmother.
