Resilience is about how you recharge, not how you endure. – Shawn Achor

Man never made any material as resilient as the human spirit” – Bernard Williams

Recalibrate your body & spirit with a long weekend away in the woods. Nourish your whole being with yoga, meditation, extraordinary meals and sunshine.

Our theme this year continues the theme of previous years “True Nature” and unpacks it. Within that truest nature of our hearts is profound resilience. Let’s cultivate deep personal and community resilience with self-care, healthy food, laughter and reflection.

During this sweet 3-day yoga retreat, we will reflect on both our true nature as humans, and get out of the bustle of our everyday lives to spend some time in the rhythm of mother earth. Expect alignment, laughter, and creativity in the yoga practices, coupled with simple meditations, mudras and mantras.

Retreat price includes:

  • 9 ample and delicious homemade meals, mostly vegetarian [fish may be offered], organic, with vegan / gluten-free friendly options,  organic snacks, coffee / tea / kombucha, Breakfast is prepare-it-yourself (cereal, granola, yogurt, gluten-free options, breads, bagels, eggs, and more available). Plenty of snacks will also be available 24/7.
  • 6 extended yoga classes (1.5-2 hours) and meditation taught by Dr. Ariele Foster (physical therapist and interdisciplinary yoga teacher – E-RYT 500), with audio recordings of each sent to participants afterward.

Spend your free time being outdoors, hiking, lounging or reading on the wrap-around deck, discovering Harper’s Ferry, treating yourself to therapeutic massage or acro-yoga’ing in the sun. Enjoy a second yoga class in the late afternoon that will challenge you in new ways.Krishna's Crescent, yoga retreat, memorial day yoga retreat, washington dc yoga retreat

A note on yoga levels and style, for those new to my (Ariele’s) classes. I’ve been teaching yoga since 2001, and am a doctor of physical therapy. This retreat has attracted beginners and advanced practitioners, teenagers and 60-plusers. Without question I feel comfortable teaching in a way that creates safety and breakthroughs for all levels of practitioners. We are all participating to support one another. The classes will be a mix of challenging and therapeutic. You are always welcome to rest if you need, or to make requests! Check out my (mostly gentle) full length yoga classes on YouTube for a sampler.
