This Saturday, June 18th at NOON, join me and 11 other yoga teachers from around the DC and the area in a round of 108 Sun Salutations. Performing 108 salutations is a traditional practice around the change of the seasons, like the upcoming Summer Solstice ~ LONGEST DAY OF THE YEAR! (can you tell I’m excited?).
We are asking participants to join us in raising or donating $108. Funds go to sustainable Haitian-run relief organizations via Off the Mat, Into the World. This organization and this event recognize the importance of Karma Yoga, selfless service. Most Western practice is Hatha yoga, physical form emphasized. Let’s come together to cultivate Seva, and Karma Yoga.
If fundraising scares you, you are not alone. Do it anyway.
If you can’t come up with $108 by Saturday, come anyway.
If 108 outdoor sun salutations sounds impossible to you, try anyway.
Show up, face your fears, ask for what you believe in, use it as an opportunity to practice listening to your inner truth ~ maybe 108 childs poses will be your most truthful practice. This line from the lulu manifesto resonates deeply with me: “Do one thing a day that scares you.”
Do it for Haiti. And if, in practicing truthfulness (satya), you know $108 less in your account will not make you blink an eye, give it all. Because you can.
